PLACES TO VISITS IN NORTHEAST INDIA

                   Northeast India, is covered with mountains and hills. Northeast has the pleasant climate, it is surrounded with natures, forest, hill and scenery beauty. Each and every state of Northeast India has it own natural beauty.

1. Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
                   Tawang, is located at the state of Arunachal Pradesh. This places share the International border with China and Bhutan. This places is at the hill top. Tawang has the world 2nd largest monastery. In winter People can enjoy the snowfall here. Tawang is the places for the monpa tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.

2. Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh.
                    Mechuka, is a small town of the state Arunachal Pradesh. It is 6000 ft above the sea level. It is situated at 29 km away from the India - China border. Mechuka is surrounded by pine trees and thorn bushes.  Mechuka has a 400 years old monastery which is one of the major tourist attraction. This small town has scenic beauty, genital hills and mountain covered with snow. Mechuka is the home to the Memba, Adi and Tagin tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.

3. Kaziranga National Park, Assam.
                      Kaziranga National Park is located at Assam. This park is World Heritage Sites because two third on the One Horn Rhino is found in this park. This park is also home to largest breeding populations of Elephant, Wild water Buffalo and Swamp Deer.

4. Mujali, Assam.
                       Mujali is located at Assam, in the middle of the mighty river Brahmaputra. This is the world largest river island. Surrounded by water, this island is very beautiful. The culture and the tradition of this places is quite Unique, and is recognize as the World heritage Sites.

5. Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya.
                        Cherrapunjee is a sub-divisional town of East Khasi Hill district of the state Meghalaya. Cherrapunjee is known as the wettest places on the earth. because this places received the highest rainfall. Here you can find the living root bridge, Mawsmai Caves and Nohkalikai Waterfall.

6. Dawki, Meghalaya.
                       Dawki is town in West Jaintia Hills district of the state Meghalaya. It is located at the  border between India and Bangladesh.  Dawki bridge on the river Umngot is the place to visit which was build in 1932 by the British.

Famous Festival Of Northeast India

             Northeast India is land of Festival. People here, celebrated different type of festival whole the year.  Because northeast India has different type of tribes so they have different type of festival. Mostly Festival here are related to the agriculture or beginning of the New Year. Above this the people of Northeast India has some festival which are tourist attraction.


1. HORNBILL FESTIVAL.
                         Hornbill festival is one of the famous festival in Northeast India. This festival is celebrated in the state of Nagaland, at Kisama  village which is located about 12 km away from the capital city Kohima. This festival is celebrated from 1st of December to 10th of December every year. All tribes of Nagaland take part in this festival. This festival promote the cultural heritage of the State. The main motto of the festival is to protect and revive the culture of the state. People can enjoy the colorful performances like crafts, sports, food fairs, games and ceremonies. Traditional art like painting, wood carving, and sculptures are also included in this festival. One of the major attraction of this festival is the Hornbill  International Rock Festival.


2. ZIRO FESTIVAL OF MUSIC.
                          Ziro Music Festival is a outdoor music festival held at Ziro, in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. This festival was founded in the year 2012 by Bobby Hano. It is an Independent music festival in India. Where people can enjoy the tribal music. Hosted by the member of Apatani Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro. This festival take places in between the month of September and October for 3 long days. This festival is known as one of the Eco-friendly festival in India. This festival has two stage Donyi and Polo, Donyi means the sun and polo means the moon. Donyi Polo is a religion followed by the tribal people of Arunachal Pradesh. People need to get ticket to get in the festival which can be found on the festival ground or on the website.


3. BACARDI NH7 WEEKENDER FESTIVAL SHILLONG.
                            This festival is almost familiar to all, this festival held in five different cities in India. One from those cities is Shillong "The Rock Capital of India". This festival is one of the famous festival in Northeast India. This festival take places in the month of November for two days at Jaintia Hill.


4. ORANGE FESTIVAL DAMBUK.
                             Orange festival of music and adventure is held at Dambuk located at Arunachal Pradesh, in the district of Lower Dibang Valley. Which is hosted for four days. This festival in India is first festival that combines Adventure sports and Music. This festival is celebrated because Dambuk is the region to produces best number of Orange in India. This festival is celebrated from 15th of December to 18th of December.


5. DWIJING FESTIVAL ASSAM.
                             Dwijing music festival is celebrated on Aie River Park, Hagrama Bridge, at Chirang district located at Assam. "Aie means mother". This festival was first held in 2015, and is celebrated for ten days in the month between December and January. Various colorful events like ethnic trades and food, exhibition, games & sports, river camping, adventure and various cultural program are included in this festival.

Meghalaya "Scotland Of The East"

                  Meghalaya is also one of the Northeast Indian State. Meghalaya means "the abode of clouds". This state share the boundary with Assam to the north and east, International boundary with Bangladesh to its south and west. The capital city of Meghalaya is Shillong. English is the official languages of this state. They also have other languages like Khasi, Garo etc.. according to their tribes.

                  As Meghalaya is known as the Scotland of east it has many beautiful places to visit. Cherrapunji is one of the famous Tourists destination in Meghalaya. This state has the seven sister waterfall. The living root bridge which is a natural bridge made of roots of trees. Mawlynnong village is one of the cleanest village of Asia which is 100 km away from the capital city Shillong.


                   The major tribes in this state are Khasi, Garo and Jaintias. Khasi tribes have the largest number of population spreads over the state. The state also have other tribes like Hajong, Baite, Koche, Boro Dimasa, Kuki, Tiwa, Karbi, Rabha and Nepali.


                    Mostly 80% people of this state depend on Agricultural. Rice is the main crop grown here in this State. Other main food grown in this state are Maize, Wheat, Cereals and Pulses. People of this state also grow Potato, Ginger, Turmeric, Black pepper, Areca Nut, Bay Leaf, Cotton, Jute, Mustard etc...


                     The food of Meghalaya is different from other Northeast Indian Food. The People of this state preferred rice with spicy meat and fish. They have meat like pork, goat, duck and cow. Jadoh, Ki Kpu, Tung-rymbai and Pickled Bamboo shoots are the food for Khasi and Jaintias tribes. Bamboo Shoots is also a favorite dish to Garo Tribes.


               Familiar to the other Northeast Indian State, this state has different types of festival according to the tribes. Festival of Khasi are Ka Shad Suk Mynsiem, Ka Pom-Blang Nongkrem, Ka-Shad Shyngwiang-Thangiap, Ka-Shad-Kynjoh Khaskain, Ka Bam Khana Shnong, Umsan Nongkharai, Shad Beh Sier. Jaintias tribes celebrates Behdienkhlam, Laho Dance, Sowing Ritual Ceremony. And Garo tribes celebrate Den Bilsia, Wangala, Rongchu gala, Mi Amua, Mangona, Grengdik BaA, Jamang Sia, Ja Megapa, Sa Sat Ra Chaka, Ajeaor Ahaoea, Dore Rata Dance, Chambil Mesara, Do'KruSua, Saram Cha'A, A Se Mania or Tata.

Nagaland, "The Land Of Head Hunters"

                Nagaland is also the state of  Northeast India. Nagaland share the border with Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh to the North, Manipur to the South and International border with Myanmar to the east. Capital city of Nagaland is Kohima. And the largest city of  Nagaland  is Dimapur.

                 In the capital city Kohima, there is the World war II cemetery and the war museum, in the memory of those who lost their lives during World war II, which was fought between British Empire and Japanese Troops. This state is covered with Mountains, and wooden forest. Nagaland is the heaven to flora and fauna. Different types of orchids can be found here.


               This state has 16 tribes, they are Angami, Ao, Chakhesang,  Khiamniungan, Konyak,  Lotha,  Sangtam, Sumi, are the major tribes of this state, there are also tribes like Chang, Dimasa, Yimchunger, Kuki, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, and Zeme-Liangmai. People of Nagaland are also known as Head Hunter because in ancient time naga people has a tradition of bringing the head of the enemy after defeating them.


                Agriculture is the main occupation in Nagaland. Rice is the main crops grown here. They also grow crops like Corn, Millets, Pulses, Tobacco, Oilseeds, Sugarcane, Potatoes, Fibres etc....


                   Dog meat is one of the favourite dish for the people of Nagaland. The People of Nagaland also like to have pork. They also have Bamboo Shoot, cooked with meat or fish, Axone (fermented soyabean) this is used by almost every household in Nagaland, Fermented Dry Fish etc....


                 Nagaland is known as the land of festival in India. Hornbill Festival, is almost familiar to everyone which is held in Nagaland, in Kisama village, which is about 12 km from the capital city Kohima. This festival was lunched in December 2000, by Government of Nagaland. This festival take place from 1st December to 10th of December every year. Every tribes have their own festival in Nagaland.

Manipur "THE Jewel of India"

              Manipur is also one of the state of seven sisters in Northeast India. Is share the boundary with Nagaland to the north, Mizoram to the south, Assam to the west and International border with Myanmar to east.

            This state has  Asia's largest women market which is women dominate market. This state is also famous for Loktak lake the largest lake in Northeast India and this lake is also well known for Phumdis (soil and organic matter at various stages of decomposition) floating on it covering the lake in large number, and Keibul Lamjao National Park located on the Phumdi is the only floating national park in the world.

           Meitei, Kuki and Naga are the major tribes of this state. Meitei tribes have the large number of population spread over Manipur. The Naga tribes is divided into 9 sub tribes over this state: Tangkhul, Maram, Poumai, Angamai, Chakhesang, Liangmai, Rongmei, Zeme and Mao. The official language spoken in this state is Meitei and English. They have also other language according to their tribes.

           This State Cultivated highest number of fruits like Lychee, Cashew, Walnut, Orange, Lemon, Pineapple, Papaya, Passion fruit, Peach, Pear and Plum. Bamboo cultivation is done in highest number is this state which cover 40% of the state. One of the India's largest state to contributed Bamboo, to the bamboo Industry in India.

           People of Manipur mostly eat Rice, Fish, Green Leafy Vegetables etc...... Some of the dishes found are Eromba, Singju, Chamthong or Kangshoi etc.. Eromba is one of the famous dish in Manipur. Which is prepared with Smoked or Roosted dry fish and green leafy vegetables.

            Ras Lila is one of the cultural dance of Manipur. Which is one of the major classical dance form of India. Rsa Lila shows the love, drama of the Lord Radha-Krishna. They also celebrate festival like Dol Jatra, Rath Jatra, Lai-Haraoba, Chumpha etc.. According to their tribes.

               Assam is the center to all the Northeast Indian State, because it is located in the middle of Northeastern state, surrounded by all the other six states in Northeast.The Capital of Assam is Dispur which is located in Guwahati the biggest city in Northeast India.

              Assam is well known for its wildlife like "One Horn Rhinos", Tea and Silk. This state also have the world largest river island "Majuli" and the world smallest river island "Umananda" on the river Brahmaputra. Assam is situated along the river Brahmaputra and Barak Valley so this state receive the highest rainfall than any other state in India.

              Assam has 29 tribes. Some of the tribes are Ahom, Bodo, Rabha, Sonowal Kachari, Karbi etc.... Each and every tribes have their own language. Common language speak in the state is Assamese.

              Rice cultivation is mainly done here. They also cultivate  vegetables, sugarcane, papaya, banana, mustard oil etc. Tea and Silkworm is also cultivated in high amount. This state contributed highest export of tea in the world. Silkworm  is cultivated to produces silk.

              Rice is the main food of this state. They also have massor jool ("Fish Curry") which is cooked with different type of fish like Borali, Rou (name of fish) etc.. Pork and duck is one of the favorite meat, they also preferred different type of meat like Chicken, mutton frog etc. Khar is one of the curry made by the people of Assam, which is made by burning the banana tree.

             People of Assam celebrate the common festival in different name called Bihu, Bwisagu. This festival is divided in three category, "Kati Bihu" celebrated in the month of October, "Magh or Bhogali Bihu" in the month of January and "Bohag or Rongali Bihu" in the month of April. Bohag or Rongali Bihu is celebrate for entire month.
