Nagaland, "The Land Of Head Hunters"

Nagaland

                Nagaland is also the state of  Northeast India. Nagaland share the border with Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh to the North, Manipur to the South and International border with Myanmar to the east. Capital city of Nagaland is Kohima. And the largest city of  Nagaland  is Dimapur.

                 In the capital city Kohima, there is the World war II cemetery and the war museum, in the memory of those who lost their lives during World war II, which was fought between British Empire and Japanese Troops. This state is covered with Mountains, and wooden forest. Nagaland is the heaven to flora and fauna. Different types of orchids can be found here.


               This state has 16 tribes, they are Angami, Ao, Chakhesang,  Khiamniungan, Konyak,  Lotha,  Sangtam, Sumi, are the major tribes of this state, there are also tribes like Chang, Dimasa, Yimchunger, Kuki, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, and Zeme-Liangmai. People of Nagaland are also known as Head Hunter because in ancient time naga people has a tradition of bringing the head of the enemy after defeating them.


                Agriculture is the main occupation in Nagaland. Rice is the main crops grown here. They also grow crops like Corn, Millets, Pulses, Tobacco, Oilseeds, Sugarcane, Potatoes, Fibres etc....


                   Dog meat is one of the favourite dish for the people of Nagaland. The People of Nagaland also like to have pork. They also have Bamboo Shoot, cooked with meat or fish, Axone (fermented soyabean) this is used by almost every household in Nagaland, Fermented Dry Fish etc....


                 Nagaland is known as the land of festival in India. Hornbill Festival, is almost familiar to everyone which is held in Nagaland, in Kisama village, which is about 12 km from the capital city Kohima. This festival was lunched in December 2000, by Government of Nagaland. This festival take place from 1st December to 10th of December every year. Every tribes have their own festival in Nagaland.
